Secondary Section Update 15 May 2025 Y11 and IB students Good luck to the Year 11 and IB2 students as they continue to work successfully through the schedule of external board examinations. For IB2 this is the final week of examinations culminating in the IB2 graduation on Friday 23rd May. Some reminders for our students who are working through those board exams: Year 11 please ensure that you have submitted your IB option choices. IB2 Students please ensure that you have completed the Google forms for graduation announcement and IB results legalisation service and made payment via accounts. End of Year Exams A further reminder that the End of Year exams for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and IB1 run from Thursday 29 May until Wednesday 4 June. The examination schedule and seating plans have been distributed today. IB1 students and parents please be aware that today’s schedule contains an update for IB1 exams only. Please remember to have transport in place for the end-of-year exams as students will be on study leave and only attending school for examinations English Dept. The English Department are looking forward to receiving year 7 and 8 students on Sunday and Monday next week in the Russ Law Hall for their Shakespeare Workshops. The plans are ready; the stage is set. Students should check their schedules with their tutors during registration or via the boards in the reception area. DofE Nepal Trip and Ski Trip Sign up is now open for the 2026 DofE Trip to Nepal details are available on the school social media please get signed up, and get deposits paid by June 2nd. More details available from Mr Nicholls. Also, Thank you for the enthusiastic response to the Ski Trip 2025. We are delighted by the level of interest. It is clear this trip has captured the excitement of many students. Due to the overwhelming number of applications, the trip has now reached full capacity, and registration has been closed. A typical week in Year 3 involves a diverse range of learning engagements! Pictured here, you can see some ‘buddy’ reading with FS2 as well as Secondary students and making salt dough as part of our Integrated Thematic Unit: Footprints from the Past: Dinosaurs. The students used the dough to recreate the original supercontinent Pangea as part of learning about what the world was like at the time of the dinosaurs. They have also done some ‘fossil hunting’ of their own, experiencing the exciting feeling of making a discovery, just like a real paleontologist! Secondary Section Update Thursday 8 May 2025 Y11 & IB Exams The Year 11 IGCSE and IB2 International Baccalaureate examinations continue with students working hard and remaining positive during this stressful period. Good luck to all those taking finals – keep up the good work. And remember to take time for rest, food and enjoyment to keep you fresh and motivated. IB1 ESS and Geog Cyprus Trip The IB1 Biology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Geography combined fieldwork trip to Cyprus departed this morning. We hope that all the students attending are able to collect strong data sets and make a great start on their Internal Assessments from this trip. End of Year Exams A reminder that the End of Year Exams for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and IB1 run from Thursday 29 May until Wednesday 4 June inclusive. We wish all students well with their revision and preparation for these examinations. Please remember that students will only attend school for schedule exams during the exam period. And that important feedback and feedforward activities will be delivered after the Eid Al Adha holiday to support students development and progress. Student Council Finally thank you to our hard working staff and the student council for their support. This week has been teacher appreciation week in the secondary section. We have acknowledged and thanked our hard working staff all their efforts, Staff have acknowledged each other’s efforts, and students have acknowledged staff efforts. The student council have provided colleagues with recognition and tokens of thanks and a strong sense of positivity, thankfulness and community has been achieved. To bring teacher appreciation week to a close: Thank you once again colleagues for everything that you do to motivate, inspire and support the wonderful students that we are fortunate to work with. Secondary Section Update 1-5-2025 Y11 & IB2 Exams Year 11 and IB2 students are now underway with their final board examinations. Both year groups have started strongly and we wish them well with maintaining their excellent start. PTSC survey A big thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Teacher Student Conferences (PTSC) on Sunday we hope that the meetings were helpful and supportive. Please complete the feedback survey by Sunday 11 May, the link having been sent via email this week. Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10 and IB1 End of Year Exams A reminder that end of year exams will run from Thursday 29 May until Wednesday 4 June. During this period students should only attend school for scheduled exams. The examination schedule has been resent again this week with a minor improvement made to the Year 9 schedule. All other year groups exams remain as before. Poetry Slam Thank you everyone who supported Book Week across Secondary this week. Congratulations also to all of the Year 7, 8 and 9 students who performed at the poetry slam this week. All of the poems and performances were fantastic, and the judges were hugely impressed by standard and quality of writing. Student spotlight Congratulations to Talia Kayali for her wonderful presentation this week for the inaugural IB1 talks. Talia provided a very high-quality interpretation of the texts she is reading in English to members of staff and the rest of the year group. We look forward to welcoming Julia Garcia this coming Monday for the next iteration of IB1 talks whereby we seek to raise student standards in English Literature whilst developing important analytical and presentation skills. FS2-2 has been learning about diversity and how we are all different but also the same. They gained an understanding about melanin, which gives us our hair, skin and even our eye colours. They understood that darker people have more melanin in their bodies while lighter people have less melanin. Not only do we have different skin colors, hair and eyes, but we have different personalities and interests. The children then drew a picture of their friends and spoke about why they like them. SS Update 24-04-2025 Welcome back to school to everyone following the combined Eid and Easter holidays. I hope that everyone enjoyed the break and is energised ready for a successful conclusion to the academic year. Thank you to everyone involved in supporting the Francophonie day celebrations yesterday. And to our special guests from the French Consulate, Alliance Francaise and Ecole Francaise International De DJeddah Y11 IGCSE and IB Exams The Year 11 Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme final exams commence in the coming days with students officially on study leave from Friday 25 April. Meaning that Year 11 and IB2 students should only be in school for board examinations or where they have prearranged to meet with a member of staff. We wish all our Year 11 and IB2 students the very best of luck during this challenging period. May you have clear and focussed minds under pressure and be well prepared ready to rise to the challenge and excel. To achieve these outcomes students should ensure that they gain plenty of sleep and avoid revising late at night, eat well, and exercise regularly. End of Year Exams The End of Year examinations for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10. And IB1 are scheduled from Thursday 29 May until Wednesday 4 June inclusive, with important feedback being conducted after the Eid Al Adha holiday. During the examination period students will have study leave and only attend school for scheduled examinations. Please refer to the examination schedule circulated today and make arrangements for transport to and from school during the examination period. PTSC Next week we will hold the PTSC meetings on Sunday 27 April. The booking system closes today at 3:15pm. Morning conferences from 8am-12:30 will be virtual meetings via Engage Video Conferencing. Parents need to ensure that they are logged in using the same credentials used for making the bookings. We understand that both parents can now join the same meeting via two separate devices but both must use the same log-in credentials as each other. Afternoon meetings from 1:15-6pm will be face-to-face in the sports hall. We kindly request all colleagues and parents be mindful of adhering to appointment timings to ensure the smooth running of the conferences. Book Week The coming week is Book Week and on Monday 28 April we invite Secondary students and staff to dress as a character from a book of their choice. We look forward to an exciting array of literary characters and in LLL time it will be dedicated towards Book Week and the importance of reading. IB2 documentations IB2 students and families are reminded of the need to finalise any requests for IB Results Legalisation and University Transcript Services. Students should refer to the Google Forms and deadlines available via the IB Studies Google Classroom. DofE Looking further ahead, we are excited to be offering Gold DofE Students the opportunity to visit Nepal for their Expedition and Residential elements of their award, in March 2026. Working with World Challenge, students will spend 14 nights in Nepal, trekking and working with local communities to make a real difference, offering students a truly once in a lifetime experience. Sign up is now open, and for further information, there will be a Zoom meeting with World Challenge on the 13th of May, where full details of the trip will be shared. Spaces are limited to 30 students so please register your interest and get involved. Uniform Shop POS Finally, please note that the uniform shop now benefits from a point of sale card machine to simplify payment of uniform purchases. Have a good weekend everyone.
