IGCSE

The Year 10 and 11 Curriculum 2022 to 2024

In Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), students aged 14-16 study the two-year Cambridge International Examination (CIE), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme. Students make choices of subjects within a prescribed framework that ensures a broad educational experience is obtained. The subjects available include Arabic, Art, Business Studies, Drama, English, French, Geography, History, History and Geography of Saudi Arabia, Islamic Civilisation, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science and Spanish. The IGCSE results obtained by students at BISJ are excellent and compare extremely favourably with other top international schools across the world.

To ensure a broad and balanced education, the curriculum has some compulsory subjects, which all students must follow, and optional or choice subjects that enable students to choose subjects from a prescribed menu. The choice of subjects from the option menu is not a free choice but guided by principles that keep the curriculum both rigorous and broad. Please refer to the specific instructions regarding option choices, which are attached to the IGCSE Student Booklet.
