Paris Trip Recap, Years 8 – IB1 From 17 to 23 October, students in Years 8 to IB1 had a cultural and language-focused week in Paris. They explored Montmartre, Sainte-Chapelle, Notre-Dame, the Louvre Museum, and Disneyland Paris. They took a cruise on the Seine River, tried perfume and macaron activities, and enjoyed the views from the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The trip supported French learning, confidence, and independence. Students showed curiosity, teamwork, and real-life language practice outside the classroom. Last Thursday we were honoured to welcome two-time Olympic Gold Medallist Triathlete Alistair Brownlee to BISJ! He spoke to our Upper Primary during their Assembly and then to our Secondary students. It was fantastic for our students to learn about his journey from student athlete to Olympic champion, and the values that guided him along the way — dedication, perseverance, and belief in yourself. Peace Day at BISJ Today our community came together to celebrate Peace Day with assemblies, wellbeing activities, and meaningful pledges across all year groups. From Primary students making personal promises of kindness to Secondary students joining the pledge initiative and attending the Student Council-led assembly, the spirit of peace was felt across the school. During lunchtime, SFAAD also organised a bake sale that added to the sense of community and gave everyone a chance to connect. The day was filled with joy, reflection, and unity, reminding us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
